A Villanova University research team has been awarded a two-year National Science Foundation Campus Cyberinfrastructure (CC*) grant. Titled “CC* Compute: High-Performance Computing (HPC) Backbone for Accelerating Campus-Wide and Regional Research,” the award will fund a university-wide HPC cluster that will help advance Villanova’s computational research.
Villanova University President, the Rev. Peter M. Donohue, OSA, PhD, today announced the appointment of Teresa Nance, PhD, as Vice President for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Father Donohue also announced the establishment of a new University task force, Aequitas: The Presidential Task Force on Race, led by Dr. Nance. The Aequitas Task Force is charged with assessing the racial climate on campus, identifying areas for improvement, and creating a plan for developing the cultural competence for all students, staff and faculty.

Two faculty members from Villanova University’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences have been named recipients of the Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Award from the National Science Foundation (NSF). The awards will allow Scott Dietrich, PhD, assistant professor of Physics, and Joseph Toscano, PhD, assistant professor of Psychological and Brain Sciences, to advance research in the areas of quantum electronics and language processing, respectively.
The M. Louise Fitzpatrick College of Nursing at Villanova University has launched the national COVID-19 Caring About Health for All Study (CHAMPS) of health care, first responder and service workers for the health care system during the COVID-19 pandemic. The objective of the study is to assess the short and long-term physical, social and behavioral health of all who were involved in supporting or delivering care for COVID-19 patients.
